After more than (way more than) 30 years in Chicago, that magnificent skyline still gets me every time. Approaching it from the south, either on the Dan Ryan or coming up Lake Shore Drive. From the east, sailing on our majestic Lake Michigan. From the west, watching the skyline grow with every few hundred yards of street. Or, perhaps my favorite, coming south on Lake Shore Drive. As you pass the Lincoln Park Zoo (more on that in another post), and come up over a tiny rise at North Avenue, the perspective continues to take my breath away. It’s worth the trip up LSD just to turn around and come back south just to see it one more time.
